Following FDA approval for their EndoFLIP product, Medical Device developer Crospon has broken into the US market.

Crospon develops medical devices within the area of gastroenterology specifically in monitoring, diagnosis and therapy.

The World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery were presented with pilot clinical trial results for the optimum stoma size for gastric band adjustment.

Following the release in the European market in 2009, EndoFLIP will now be launched in the US market.

“Gastric banding is the fastes-growing class of bariatric surgery in the US, and we believe that EndoFLIP can bring a new science to gastric-band adjustment”, says Larry Fulton, VP Sales for the Americas.

Crospon Principal investigator Dr Robert G Snow also added, “In addition, we look forward to collaborating with a number of new leading bariatric surgery study centres inside and outside of the US as we collectively seek to better define new techniques for best use of the EndoFLIP system for gastric band adjustments”.

Whats the use of complaining?

Quality and Regulation relies on feedback- good or bad.

Quality and Regulation relies on feedback- good or bad.

Whats the use of complaining? Complaints handling in the medical devices manufacturing inustry is a profession in itself. Complaints can be an indication of quality of product and service which can in turn be indicators of good or bad manufacturing and service processess that require review and improvement.

There will always be a level of complaints and these complaints are an excellent source of unbiased feedback that can help improve products and provide a viewpoint sepperate to those who are so close to the immediate  manufacturing  process of product that they may not see the woods for the trees.

Complaints are also a good way to ensure that complacency doe snot creep in and that the company and its employees continue to strive for improvements beyond the simply adequate. After all who wantst to have an average product or service experience when you can have an excellent product or service?

So the next time you complain think of the impact and contibution you have on the world around you.

Quality Versus Quantity

Good Manufacturing Practice-Consistent Quality

Good Manufacturing Practice-Consistent Quality

Quality versus Quantity used to be a dilemma faced by manufacturers faced by the dual consideration of competition and the diminishing return on investment after cost ie profits.

More precisely,  manufacturers of goods would consider how do you increase profits when you are facing increased competition and increasing numbers of competitors eating into your market share? Do you increase production and hope to swamp your competitors with lower cost items that you can charge less for and therefore increase your market share - or do you produce better high quality items which you can charge more for and thus get more for less and also retain and grow a loyal customer base who will trust your product over the oppositions cheaper and possibly less reliable product.

Myscience jobs considers the question  as now largely rhetorical. Quality wins out every time.

Today Quality Control and Quality Assurance is a major consideration for all Irish high tech manufacturing from medical devices through to semiconductors and pharmaceutical products. Irish manufacturing is performed to  World Class Manufacturing environment standards  including BS, ISO, FDA, and GMP.

None of the billions of investment that have been spent would have been done so if these standards could not be guaranteed to be maintained and improved as they have been by Quality Managers, Engineers and technicians who police and maintain  them, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in manufacturing plants, R&D facilities, Design consultancies and practices through out Ireland.

Needless to say, there remains today, a significant number of  scientfic, engineering and manufacturing jobs open to Quality professionals encompassing all the above sectors despite the economic downturn, which will endure and expand in the years ahead as clients and customers continue to demand quality over quantity.
