Facebook or Google.. which do you use most in a day?

New figures have been released in the USA to say that Facebook was the most visited site, hitting the number 1 spot last Christmas. Share prices have even increased in both, giving Facebook the upperhand with 186pc compared to Google’s 9pc.

With all this in mind it comes to question the phenomenon that is Social Networking.

Are you an avid Facebook user?

Is Google set as your homepage purely because a quick few letters gives you access to anything you want to see?

You cannot put Facebook and Google in a direct comparison as they both do completely different things for you, as are both are an invaluable tool for your internet usage. It does beg to differ, however, how we do business these days.

Where I personally am a Facebook user, I find Linkedin to be Facebook’s business counterpart from a connections point of view. In the recruitment world and in addition to our own website, Social Networking is also a key part of our advertising…. we are on Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook giving out Job Alerts!

When you see reports and figures published like these it really is proof that this year, Facebook and Google are the ones to go with!

Keep your password secure

I Love You is the 5th most common password used on the web and is one of 10 passwords commonly used by hackers. So the lesson is be more imaginative with your password if you want to protect your email account or secure sensitive company records.

Most people who use social neworks tend to use the same password for office IT networks and sometimes its just people being plain lazy when it comes to choosing a secure password. If you consider a hacker can crack an account password every second and 1000 accounts in 17 minutes, its worth taking the time to think of a secure password.

Hackers use automated programs using Robot Networks or botnets to crack secure or complex passwords so not having a good password is like leaving the front door open, going on holiday for a month and still expecting not to be robbed when you return. The word NAIVE springs to mind…

So for the benefit of our myscience readers (who shouldnt need to be told) try to avoid choosing from the following top ten passwords and you will be safer and more secure in your use of the internet and IT Networks in general….

1:- 123456

2:- 12345

3:- 12345678

4:- Password

5:- Iloveyou

6:- Princess

7:- Rockyou

8:- 1234567

9:- 12345678

10:- abc123
